The weather is warm, the sun is shining, birds are singing, my horses are playing, Zoe is out of school for the summer, and I am desperately trying to find time to get everything ready for another art filled weekend at the Mermaids Mercantile! During the summer months the Mermaids Mercantile will be not one, but two days long so it should be double the fun. There will be 25 vendors in an open air flea market setting. Lots of antiques, vintage clothes, jewelery, dreamy handcrafts, and flea market finds. This time Posies Boutique will have an extra big space so we will be bringing some cute furniture pieces and lots more adorable creations. You can find out more by visiting the blog at themermaidsmercantile.blogspot.com.
Take some time away and come visit us all in Solana Beach on the weekend of June 26th and 27th and take a peek at everything this unique event has to offer. The Cedros Design District is a great place to spend the day with lots to see. There are amazing galleries, antique shops, cafes, the list goes on. Hope to see you there and please….. Pass it on!
It was a fun day in Solana Beach last Sunday. It was really nice spending the day visiting with friends and family in such an adorable little shop, enjoying the beautiful creations of so many nice talented women. The weather did not cooperate, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of anyone there! When we arrived, everyone was busily setting up their spaces carefully arranging their displays, and of course walking around complimenting each other on whatever new creation they had for the show. I have never done anything like this before before, so of course I was a nervous wreck and didn’t sleep a wink the night before, but once my daughter, mom, sister and I had everything set up, I took a step back, and a deep breath, and realized that everything was just fine and we were going to have a great day.
I met some wonderful women and had to hold myself back from buying something at every space! There were beautiful womens clothes and bags made by Deb Hodge. Her blog is here www.breathingbesideus.blogspot.com. She is just one of the amazingly talented women there, and I wanted to buy ALL her things. It looked like everyone felt that way because by the end of the day, she barely had anything left! Wandering around thegarden path I found gorgeous jewelery, beautiful slip covered chairs and pillows ( I also wanted), amazing garden container creations, cute felted hanging mermaids, hand painted furniture, vintage clothes, adorable fabric, hand made cards, and the list goes on.
This is my neighbors beautiful display. Her garden creations are so clever and creative, you could spend an endless amount of time just looking at all the sweet little details, and what a nice lady too!
It was really great getting so much positive feedback about all my things. People don’t realize how important it is to have someone compliment what you have spent countless late nights and early morning creating, with the hopes that others enjoy it as much as you do. I cant even tell you how many women wished that these Fannie Panties came in adult sizes!
See you at the next event, hopefully that will be soon!
Well, I am excited that some new and exciting things are starting to happen with Posies Boutique. I can’t believe that only a couple months ago I was beginning to second guess myself. I should have known, once I decide to stop over-thinking things, little by little, everything just manages to fall into place. My old stand by….my little home on Etsy, has been wonderful. For those of you who don’t know about Etsy, it is an online marketplace that enables those of us CONSTANT creators to have a very professional and supportive community to sell our wares. I have heard that some people can actually make a living at it! It is really so inspiring and fun to visit Etsy.com each day and see new things that people all over the world are creating, buying, and selling, and talking about. Another wonderful thing is that people who enjoy your creations can pick your shop or an item you have made, and add it to their favorites. Other people then look at other peoples favorites, and surprise, you may have a new customer! On top of all that, there are artists who sell some of their extra supplies, or vintage finds, whether it be vintage beads and buttons, fabric…. well you get the picture. It is just great! Oh I almost forgot, a really sweet Etsy person featured one of my adorable little Audrey jackets on her blog just from seeing it on Etsy! Check it out right here: http://tinyandlittle.blogspot.com/2010/03/want-need-love-audrey.html
Enough about that for today, thanks for visiting, and keep checking back. I am working on some very adorable little baby shoes that someone is just going to love. I’ll show them to you soon!
My Workspace
We are finally here! It took a little longer than we thought to get the ball rolling for the newly updated website, blog, and etsy.com store, to no ones fault but my own! I have had a long time fear of the computer and internet, coupled with having a hard time coming up with the desire/inspiration to get things going again. But its well on its way and looking pretty cute if I do say so myself. Thanks to some inspiring friends and family members, my husband and of course my website friends at Virsitil, I have a good idea we are on a good path now.
With the closing of my cute little brick and mortar shop almost 4 years ago, it took some poking and prodding from a few key people to get myself back on track with those precious creative juices flowing again. And they sure are flowing! I have been working away in my studio painting and sewing again and little by little more and more Posies Boutique’s charming creations will be showing up on my blog and my posiesboutique.etsy.com shop. Be patient and keep checking back…please!
